Live streaming using YouTube
You can start live streams on YouTube and embed them into a forum post by following the instructions below.
You can also enable Single Sign On with Google so that users don't need to sign up on your forum separately.
Create an account on Youtube
- Go to YouTube.
- In the top right, click Sign in.
- Click Create Account.
- Choose For myself or To manage my business.
Create a YouTube channel
- Go to YouTube.
- Click your profile picture and then select Create a channel.
Verify your channel
- Upload videos longer than 15 minutes.
- Add custom thumbnails.
- Live stream.
Enable Live Streaming on your channel
- Go to YouTube.
- From the top right, click the camera symbol with a plus sign inside and then Go live.
- If you haven't already verified your channel, follow the steps to verify your channel.
- Enable live streaming via the channel features page.
- Starting your first live stream may take up to 24 hours. Once enabled, you can live stream instantly.
Embed live stream into your Website Toolbox forum
- Go to YouTube.
- Click the camera symbol with a plus sign inside and select Go live from the top right.
- Select Webcam and add the details for your Livestream like Name, Description, add a photo, etc, and click Next.
- Customize settings like live chat and participant message options, then click Next.
- Edit the visibility of your live stream (Unlisted or Public).
- Start the live stream and click the share button in the top right corner.
- Copy the video link.
- Simply mention the video URL (address) in your post. The URL will automatically be converted into an embedded video that can be played without leaving the page.
Create an account on Youtube if you don't have one by following the instrcutions below:
Follow the instructions below to create a channel.
To verify your channel, you’ll be asked to enter a phone number and you will recieve a verification code by text or voice call to that phone number. Once you've verified your account, you can:
Live streaming is disabled on new YouTube channels by default. To live stream, you need to have no live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and you need to verify your channel.
Now you'll need to get the URL of the live stream and mention it in a forum post.
