Why isn't my feed loading properly?

Private Forum Permission

Your feed follows the same security settings as your forum. Making your forum private or password protecting your forum may conflict with your feed. In these cases, the feed will not display the forum topics unless it can detect that you are permitted to view the forum.

Some web-based feed readers can detect that you are permitted to view the forum and will display the feed properly as long as you are already logged into the forum with the required credentials.

If you are using a program that is installed on your computer to access the feed, it will not be able to detect that you are permitted to view the feed. It will not display the feed under any circumstances.

The best way to completely avoid the problem is to make your forum public. Once your forum is public, you can optionally turn off the View Topic Content permission for the Not Signed Up / Not Logged In user group. This will allow your feed to work and will allow people to see what topics are being discussed, but once they click on a topic, they'll be asked to log in or sign up to view the content of the topic.

JavaScript Support

If you are using the JavaScript feed, please make sure your website provider allows you to insert JavaScript into your website. Very few providers, such as WordPress.com, do not allow you to insert JavaScript into your website. The feed will not be able to load on the website in that case.

Also, be sure to insert the feed code into your website as HTML, not as text. The process various based on the software or site builder. However, usually you'll see an HTML mode, Insert HTML, or Embed Code option. We have instructions for some common website providers and website builders.
