Preventing new user signups

You can prevent new user signups on a permanent or temporarily basis. That may be useful for cases where you are only allowing new signups for a limited period of time, or when you only want to create the accounts through Single Sign On with your website, register the users yourself, or invite the users yourself.

The Sign Up link on your forum will be hidden so that new users will not be able to create a new user account on your forum. Existing user accounts will not be affected.

You can prevent new user signups by following the directions below:

1. Log in to your Website Toolbox account.
2. Click the Settings link.
3. Click the Users link.
4. Turn the Signups option off.
5. Save your changes.

Note that the Signups option will not appear on the Settings page if your forum is invite-only since only invited users would be able to register in that case.

Alternatively, you can allow new signups and then approve new users before they can begin using their account.
