Post Approval

You can require the review and approval of posts that meet certain criteria before they are shown on the forum by following the instructions below.

  1. Log in to your Website Toolbox account.
  2. Click the Settings link.
  3. Click the Posts link.
  4. In the drop down box next to the Approve Posts option, select a value other than Disabled.
  5. Save your changes.

Posts that are suspected of being spam will require your approval even if the Approve Posts option is off.

You can choose to approve all posts, all topics, or only the first few posts made by a user. Choosing to approve the first few posts made by a user is a useful way to stop spammers who create accounts for the sole purpose of posting spam. After the first valid post by the user, you would know that it is not an account created by a spammer.

If you choose the "with links" options when enabling post approval, the post will only need to be approved if it also contains one or more links. For example, if it is the user's first post and it also contains a link to a website.

If this option is enabled, the default permissions are to require approval of posts in all categories by all user groups except posts made by moderators. You can change user group permissions and category permissions to specify exactly which categories and groups of users should require approval of their posts.

  1. Log in to your Website Toolbox account.
  2. Click the Users link in the main menu.
  3. Click on the Manage link next to the user group of you want to change the permission for.
  4. In the Manage menu, click Permissions.
  5. Turn the Require Post Approval permission on or off.
  6. Save your changes.
  1. Log in to your Website Toolbox account.
  2. Click the Categories link.
  3. Click the Manage link next to the category of your choice.
  4. In the Manage menu, click the Change Permissions link.
  5. In the drop down menu, select the user group you want to change the permissions for.
  6. Turn the Require Post Approval permission on or off.

You can receive email notifications of all new posts in your forum to expedite the process of approving or declining pending posts.
