Changing the username of a user
- Log in to your forum account.
- Click the Avatar image located towards the top-right of the page.
- Click the Settings link from the dropdown.
- Click the Edit icon next to the username. If there is no Edit icon, it could be due to one of the following reasons:
- The logged in user has not been assigned as an administrator.
- The user hasn't been given permission to change their own username. Instructions to give permission are shown below.
- A log in page URL/address has been specified in the Settings -> Single Sign On section. When Single Sign On, excluding social Single Sign On like Facebook or LinkedIn, is being used, the username will be set in the single sign on request. You can contact us if you'd like to allow users to change their username even when single sign on is being used.
- Enter your new username.
- Press enter or click the check mark icon to save your changes.
The ability for a user to change their own username can be set on a per user group basis by following the directions below:
- Log in to your Website Toolbox account.
- Click the Users link in the main menu.
- Click the Manage link next to the user group you want to edit.
- Click the Permissions link.
- Under the Account Permissions section, turn the Change username permission on or off.
- Save your settings.
