Censored words
Use censored words to prevent words or phrases from being used on the forum, including in posts, profiles, and private messages.
You can add censored words by following the instructions below:
- Log in to your Website Toolbox account.
- Click the Settings link.
- Click the Posts link.
- Next to the Censored Words option, click the words link.
- Add additional words in the text boxes. Use an asterisk as a wildcard. For example, dumb*
- Save your changes.
By default, posts containing censored words are rejected. The user will be required to remove the word from their content before it is published. They'll be shown a generic message saying the content violates community guidelines. You can choose to have posts that contain censored words require moderator or administrator approval before they are published instead. Since there is no moderation queue for private messages or edited profiles, in those cases the content will be rejected instead of requiring approval.
You can follow the instructions below to require approval of content containing censored words instead of rejecting it:
- Log in to your Website Toolbox account.
- Click the Settings link.
- Click the Posts link.
- For the Censored Words option, select Require Approval in the drop down.
- Save your changes.
Also consider using the inappropriate content filter to automatically detect and reject or require approval of posts containing toxicity, insults, profanity, identity attacks, flirtatious or sexually explicit content, or threats using machine learning.
You can also use a webhook to be notified of posts that contain a censored word.
