No: drink; red meat; laying on the couch for 6 months.

As a NYCer, is it exciting to see DC, SL, LM, EP, etc in this event, or is this a sacred event for locals, normally?

I'm totally stoked about it.  I even just quit drinking this morning when I read it so I could prepare.  (should last til the afternoon at least, I hope...).  Traditionally this was a smaller tournament of mostly NYC players, growing a little bit each year.  Last year, it made a huge jump by the addition of prize money for the first time and the co-hosting of the Women's Classic.  I can see this year is going to be even bigger!  Fantastic.

Somebody call a waaaaaaahmbulance.

Thank god for Tyree and Billy or else I would have to whine about never winning this event again because of Pro's entering.

It is not as sacred as the Albany Open.

It would seemed to be true as the AO has the ability to take over other threads as well.

The A & O virus is coming to a thread near you.

Seeding should have Billy O as first seed. Returning finalist.

The rest would be

Sean
Luis
DC
EP
DF

I would agree with the #1 seed being Billy IF the tourney practices this policy.  This is now a pro stop, with a whole new meaning and if you screw up the #1 spot, you mess up the whole event (Bill Mehilos circa early 2008).

I was told by Paul Williams that the last year's #1 would get the #1 seed.  He didn't say anything about #2.

It is a normal practice around here but I do not know what the plan is for this event as I am not involved with it other then as a supporter.

If it were up to me I like the returning Finalist getting the nod.

If it were up to me, I'd give the players who finished #1 and #2 at the last pro stop the nod at this one.  In that case it would be Moreno and Chapman, respectively.

If and when we get more control over matters like this, I will make it mandatory.  Right now the LIO will have equal and/or more say as I do in the seeds.  This was a request of theirs and it was granted.

1. Seeding the defending champion 1st is a completely ridiculous and absurd practice done only in Handball. It makes no sense whatsoever. Rankings exist to determine seeds. The New York Giants do not start the season with home field advantage and a 1st round bye in the playoffs because they won The Super Bowl last year. Seeds go to the highest ranking pros. Last year means nothing, and this should apply to The Nationals as well.
2. You think Chapman and Moreno should be seeded #1 and #2? Why spend so much time working on rankings, and calling events WPH ranking events when rankings mean nothing?
3. All events are "sacred" to the locals until sufficient money is offered for 1st, then the big boys come to town, and blow the locals out 21-0 21-0
4. Reading this thread and the comments and opinions on this thread has made me realize that everyone on here is mentally handicapped, and I cannot be upset because the average iq of people on this message board excluding myself is far less than 100.

We don't have a regular season in handball.  Seeding last year's defending champ as the #1 is common practice in handball so as absurd as it is, it remains the norm.

This

Starving-ass pro's

If you are just realizing this now I envy the conversations you have had thus far in handball where you weren't being bombarded with ignorance or simply weren't aware that you were

We are happy to be apart of the LIO and pro stop and I am not worried about the seeds.  Before this event takes place we will have the Bob Symon.  I will go off the WPH rankings very closely for the Symon with hopes of "righting" the world.

My remark about Moreno and Chapman wouldn't work for the LIO because the Bob Symon hasn't been played out.  I agree with 67.785% of what Fink wrote. Eventually we will go directly off the rankings.  Eventually.

Sampras is correct as usual.  Seeding an Open player number one when you have pros that are far better is not good for the tournament.  It makes for a bad semifinal match.  The tourney should be seeded according to the USHA rankings which would put me number 11 where I belong.

The Bob Symon will have to take place first.  Right now you are 7th with the WPH.  This would have you playing into Emmett into the semi's.

But, the cart is before the horse on that talk.

Bashing the USHA has nothing to do with our progression forward in running a pro event or tour.  Their rankings have no weight in this discussion either.

Some pretty good intel have Danny Bell and Tyree Bastidas committed to the LIO.  I think Jurrell Bastidas will be joining the fray, as well.

This gives us:

Angel
Chapman
Fink
Lenning
Moreno
O'Donnell
Peixoto
Ragoo
Retain
Williams
Bell
Bastidas
J.Bastidas

1.5 months to go.  We need Cesar Sala and a few NY 4-Wallers yet.  I'm stoked!

Bastidas is from New York and there is already the 7 in. The LIO gets all the locals same as the Sabo tournament. Our Locals support.

There is about another 8 or so that will enter.

I agree with Fink. Rankings should be used to seed the tournament. At least for the top spots.
If DC will be in NYC maybe he can kill two birds with one stone by playing that left to two game.
