a software that converts images to vector. i have seen the tutorial converting 2d image contour lines to vector lines then save to dxf. dxf can be imported to su.

If you have a fast CPU and need a tree close up, here is a link to a site that is reasonably priced for an app that works well. I use this regularly for trees in my MAX renders (never tried it with SU yet, due to some sizes)

Also accepts plugins, some PhotoShop, some Paintshop Pro.
Small, fast, supports practically every image format, even really obscure ones.
