The suggested date for the picnic is Sunday August 24th. Please post here if you are interested in attending. Thanks.

Barbara,

I will definately be there as long as: I am in town; Leon White is there; Everyone is healthy; No ducks; Less than 80 degrees; Little Ted can come; Obama is behind in the polls; Dan is there with Tim and Adam; We can share a blanket and catch up; Republicans get a cool slogan and figure out how to chant McCain; Oh, did I mention if Leon is there?  Then it is FOR SURE! Count on me!

Yeah, those are not unreasonable demands. Ill only come if Jimi Hendrix stops by. Just kidding. Ill try and make it this time, it would be great to finally meet all you people.

To all whom are interested in attending a picnic of Ted's alumini and friends,

After reading the newsletter today, the picnic interest seems to be minimal at best.  Maybe it's the hot weather or vacation plans that have been made way before this date was even suggested.

Now another event now has come to my attention that may compete and whittle down the numbers of likely picnic attendees for Aug. 24th even further:  Howard Alden "Tribute To Django" workshop at California Vintage Guitar in Van Nuys, at 2 pm.

I suggest we move our beloved picnic to late September or early October when the weather, and ducks, are more inviting.  What say ye?

Nick

I tend to agree with Nick. Since there has been minimal interest in attending a picnic on that date and coupled with the fact of Howard Alden's tribute, which is more than probably a better choice for that day, shall we suggest another date?
Or.... have we had enough picnics? any comments?

Considering that August is the most popular month to travel out of town, we'd probably get a larger turnout in a different month.

Sundays in September? 20th or 27th?

Edit: (Oops) make that the 21st or 28th.

Wow!  Just Barb, Dan, and myself responded?  It's a good thing we are moving it!  I haven't missed one and I would love to see some of the locals who post here in the forums, but haven't been able to make it yet.  It's a lot of fun, good music, free stuff to exchange ... and yes, Stevie Brodie's famous BBQ duck wings!  Everyone brings food to share, sometimes too much since the music seems to always takes precedence.

I hope everyone who had planned to attend on Aug. 24th reads this:  The picnic is being REPLANNED FOR SEPTEMBER 2009 according to Dan's Sawyer's calendar.  Dan, I was hoping on a picnic much sooner than that?  Lets try Sept. 2008!  The two Sundays I think you really meant are the 21st and 28th.  Either one works for me!

I better make this bold in case someone is just skimming this page:
THE PICNIC IS BEING REPLANNED FOR SEPTEMBER 2008

Anyone else have their preference?  Don't be shy!  Time to chime in!

Nick

Either date is fine with me. Maybe we should also include games? a raffle? a pinata?

Haha! Thanks Nick. I buy my calenders at the 99 cent store. I guess that wasn't such a good idea.
